What is the difference between Lasik, PRK, LASEK and IntraLASIK?
There are different types of laser surgery to improve the conditions of your sight. The most widely used method is the method of Lasik. Other methods are PRK, IntraLASIK (laser or "intra") and LASEK (with an "e "...).
All methods are listed in proceedings whose purpose is to correct the vision (in the case of nearsightedness, farsightedness or astigmatism) by modeling of the cornea.
Lasik Surgery: Lasik
The method is the most popular and preferred by patients such as physicians, given the high rate of success is the rapid recovery of patients. Lasik laser eye surgery is a treatment that reshapes the cornea. Laser Eye Surgery consists of cutting, withdraw and seclude a small surface of the cornea, and then "clean" or "sculpt" the tissue with a laser medium of the cornea, which then cover again with the superficial layer which had withdrawn above.
Surgery PRK:
The main difference between PRK laser surgery and Lasik surgery rooted in the fact that the PRK technique does not separate the tissue of the cornea as is done with the LASIK technique. In this technique, withdraw the outer cell layer of the cornea with an alcohol solution. After that, you always reshapes the cornea with laser.Questa technique is especially indicated for patients with corneas that can not be late to work with the Lasik. The postoperative generally slower and patients should have their eyes protected with special contact lenses during wound healing.
Lasek Surgery:
intervention called Lasek (also known as epithelial or E-Lasik Lasik) is a newer type of PRK. In Lasek using finer incision to cut the corneal tissue. Then apply a solution of alcohol and water to remove the eye epithelium. This action is recommended mainly for those patients who have corneas too thin or too soft and likely to have complications with Lasik technique.
Surgery IntraLASIK:
IntraLASIK The method was developed to solve some of the problems that had laser surgery methods with Lasik and Lasek. It is a mix of these two methods, although with some differences. Nell'intraLasik, the corneal tissue is cut very finely, but with an engraving swinging. After that you do not use the alcohol solution to loosen the epithelium but is made with a plastic instrument.
